The power of Nuvante

Developed based on science and clinical practice

Tube feeding must offer more than just a complete nutritional composition. The product must be safe, remain stable throughout its shelf life and be administered reliably through a feeding tube and feeding pump. That is why, during the development of each product, we pay close attention to characteristics such as homogeneity, viscosity, emulsion stability and practical usability. These factors are essential for a consistent composition, ease of handling and reliable administration in everyday care.

Our medical nutrition products are developed in accordance with the applicable regulatory framework for Foods for Special Medical Purposes (FSMPs), taking into account current scientific insights and relevant guidelines, including those issued by ESPEN. In this way, we connect quality, science and regulatory requirements with the everyday needs of patients, dietitians and other healthcare professionals.

Food matrix

Conscious choices in the sources of our nutrients

The nutritional value of a product is determined not only by the amount of nutrients it contains, but also by how they are structured and interact: the nutritional matrix. This also affects how effectively nutrients can be released and absorbed by the body. As a result, two products with identical nutrition information can have different nutritional effects.

This is particularly relevant for tube feeding. To ensure that a product is safe, homogeneous and suitable for use with a feeding pump, it must, by definition, undergo extensive processing. During this process, nutrients are separated from their original matrix and recombined. At Nuvante, we consciously take this into account when developing our formulations, alongside conventional nutrient analysis. We consider the interactions between proteins, fats and fibres, as well as the impact of our production process on the product’s final digestibility.

Complete amino acid profile

Proteins

Proteins provide essential amino acids that the body needs to build and maintain muscle mass and other body tissues. The quality of a protein source is determined by its essential amino acid content and the extent to which these amino acids can be digested and absorbed.

At Nuvante, we therefore use a variety of protein sources tailored to dietary restrictions and allergen requirements. Milk proteins naturally have a complete amino acid profile and are considered high-quality proteins. Plant-based proteins can also be nutritionally valuable, but often have a lower DIAAS score or lack sufficient amounts of a particular essential amino acid. Based on laboratory analysis, we therefore supplement our plant-based formulations with specific amino acids to ensure that these products also provide a complete amino acid profile.

Plant-based and sustainable source

Omega-3

The omega-3 fatty acids naturally found in fish actually originate from algae. Fish obtain these fatty acids through their diet within the marine food chain. Sourcing omega-3 directly from algae provides a plant-based and sustainable source of DHA and EPA without using fish oil.

By choosing algal oil, we use a high-quality source of omega-3 fatty acids that reflects our vision for future-focused, carefully developed enteral nutrition.

When will Nuvacal be available?

Nuvacal 1.3 and Nuvacal 1.6 will be available from November 2026.

Can I try Nuvacal first?

Yes. A sample pack can be requested for patients or clients, allowing healthcare professionals and users to experience how Nuvante fits into everyday enteral nutrition practice. Nuvacal must always be used under medical supervision.

How should I store and use Nuvacal after opening?

Store unopened packaging in a cool, dry place. According to the product information sheets, an opened bottle may be resealed, refrigerated and stored for up to 24 hours. This is a storage period and does not necessarily correspond to the permitted hang time when connected to a feeding pump. Please follow the latest instructions for use. Do not dilute the formula or add any medicines.

What is the minimum feeding tube diameter required to administer Nuvacal?

Nuvacal 1.3 and Nuvacal 1.6 are suitable for administration through feeding tubes of Charrière 8 (CH 8) or larger. Charrière is the measurement used to indicate the outer diameter of a feeding tube.
